VanHorn Portable Class 3B Laser

I wanted a laser that was powerful enough (currently the strongest 3B laser on the market 🥳) to earn a place in the therapy clinic but portable enough to actually use around a horse without dragging a cart, cords and half the barn behind me. This rechargeable handheld system combines four wavelength bands (660 + 808 + 940 + 1064 nm) across 25 individually spaced laser diodes in one compact treatment head.

The broad treatment surface works like the soleplate of an iron: place the flat bottom directly against the target area and move it deliberately over clean, intact skin. The light is delivered from the bottom treatment plate, not through the handle opening.

Three Built-In Modes

Mode 1: Daily Recovery

Mode 2: Deep Recovery

Mode 3: Acute Pain Recovery

These are equipment preset names, not diagnoses or treatment prescriptions. Choose settings conservatively and use the device only as directed in the VanHorn training manual.

Why Four Wavelengths?

I did not want a one-wavelength gadget with an impressive label and very little thought behind it. The four wavelength bands give this handheld system a broader photobiomodulation platform:

• 660 nm provides visible red light
• 808, 940 and 1064 nm are near-infrared wavelengths and may appear dim or completely invisible to the naked eye
• The combination allows different wavelength and pulse selections within one portable device

Different wavelengths interact with tissue differently, and real-world delivery is affected by coat color, hair, skin thickness, contact, dose and treatment geometry. Bigger numbers alone do not guarantee better results. The complete delivery system matters.

Where Can It Be Used?

The handheld design makes it practical for targeted use over clean, intact areas such as:

• Shoulders and large muscle groups
• Back and loin
• Hips and stifles
• Lower limbs and tendon regions
• Comparable body areas on dogs

This device is intended for general wellness, conditioning support and recovery routines. It does not diagnose an injury or replace an appropriate veterinary evaluation.

What Is Included?

• VanHorn portable Class 3B laser unit
• Rechargeable 2600 mAh battery
• Supplied charger
• Compliant OD 5+ protective laser eyewear covering 630–690 nm and 780–1100 nm
• waterproof VanHorn quick-start guide
• Comprehensive VanHorn training manual
• Fitted zippered carrying case designed to keep the laser, charger, protective eyewear and accessories together

The complete kit arrives organized inside the zippered case, so the unit, glasses and charging equipment stay protected and easy to transport.

One-Year Limited Warranty

This laser includes a one-year limited warranty. Full warranty terms and coverage details will be provided with the product.

Class 3B Laser Safety

This is not an LED pad. Class 3B eye safety rules matter.

• Protective eyewear rated OD 5+ for 630–690 nm and 780–1100 nm must be worn by every person inside the controlled treatment area
• Never aim the treatment surface toward any eye
• Keep the horse’s or dog’s face completely outside the beam path
• Post the supplied Class 3B controlled-area warning sign during use
• Remove mirrors, polished tack and other reflective objects from the treatment area
• Keep children, bystanders, loose animals and anyone without appropriate eyewear outside the controlled area
• Do not use over the thyroid, a pregnant abdomen, suspected tumors, active bleeding, unexplained trauma, infected tissue or open wounds
• Use only where permitted by applicable state and local law

Charging, Cleaning & Storage

Use only the supplied charger. Turn the device off before cleaning and wipe the treatment surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth followed by a dry cloth. Do not immerse the unit or allow liquid into the display, charging port or housing. Store it in the fitted case away from excessive heat, moisture, dust and direct sunlight.

Operating environment: 5–40 °C with a maximum relative humidity of 80%.

Designed With an Engineer’s Brain and a Horse Owner’s Standards

I am a nuclear criticality engineer who also happens to be extremely passionate (and picky 😂) about equine therapy equipment. I look at wavelength selection, output, controls, safety systems and how a product will actually be used in a barn.

Important: For animal use only. This product is intended for general wellness and supportive care. It is not intended to diagnose, cure or replace veterinary treatment. Stop use and seek appropriate veterinary care for sudden or unexplained lameness, severe pain, neurologic signs, active bleeding, significant swelling or any worsening condition.
